Winner of 4 Bafta awards, the BBC's hugely successful 1990's TV adaption of Nigel Nicolson's book about the marriage and affairs of his parents Vita Sackville-West and Harold Nicolson is now available in Region 2.
Penelope Mortimer's screenplay follows the passionate and open marriage of aristocratic novelist Vita Sackville-West and diplomate Harold Nicolson who shared a 50 year-long relationship despite Vita's affairs with women such as Violet Trefusis and Virginia Woolf and Nicolson's own homosexual liaisons. This drama depicts Vita's tortured and very public affair with novelist Violet Trefusis. Set against the backdrop of WW1 Europe, the drama was for it's time a frank and daring in its depiction of lesbian love. Starring Janet McTeer, Cathryn Harrison and David Haig.
